Over the last 14 years, Boulder-native Ryan Van Duzer has become a serious adventure ambassador, a role he broadcasts tirelessly and inspiringly from his YouTube channel (nearly 60,000 subscribers), his IG stories (@duzer) and now with a budding TV show he and a friend are distributing on Amazon, “Get Out There With Ryan Van Duzer.”

From his base in Boulder, Ryan adventures throughout the world, spending much of his time on the road and almost as much time filming, editing and publishing videos about his adventures to his YouTube channel. He spends approximately 150 days away from Boulder each year adventuring. Most recently, he spent a few weeks bikepacking in Baja in January for his 41st birthday.

The Amazon-hosted show features Ryan reaching out to his connections on social media and wrangling them all to do a crazy adventure in a new place. Episode one = standup paddle boarding in a Boston bay in winter. Cost: $1.99.

When he announced the new show last week, initially it sounded as if Amazon had picked it up, but, alas, he and his producer friend have just listed it on the platform. There’s just one episode now, but if many people buy it and Ryan and his co-producer see demand (and enough money), they will plan more episodes. They want to make four episodes this year.

With that as a backdrop, we checked in with Boulder’s adventure ambassador about his state of adventure, his long journey toward TV (now in the YouTube phase), and his adventure future. We recorded from his townhouse in North Boulder. Enjoy.
