Introducing: BLDRfly’s Boulder CBD Chocolate taste test

Blind taste test on Wed., July 29 in downtown Boulder

By Paul Hagey Jul 23 2020

Ever since the federal government approved the sale of cannibidiol, or CBD, with 0.3 percent or less THC content in 2018, the CBD industry has skyrocketed.

Now, everything from gummies, lotion, lube, pet food, coffee, juice and more have CBD — all of which and more Boulder CBD boutique Infused has on its shelves. While science has yet to determine much of its effects, proponents say it helps with anxiety, stabilize mood and smooths everyday vibe.

You no doubt have seen CBD available everywhere, from CBD additional shots available for purchase at Ozo Coffee to the many CBD-infused drinks available at retailers around town.

With its rich consumer-packaged goods legacy, Boulder has a variety of manufacturers incorporating CBD into their products.

Which brings us to our Boulder CBD chocolate taste test, in which we set out to determine how three local CBD chocolatiers — Thornton-based Gataka, Boulder-based Moksha and Louisville-based Kefla — stack up against each other and two national players — Grön and Greater Goods.

In a blind taste test with five neutral judges next Wed., Jun 29, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Jungle (2018 10th Street) in downtown Boulder, we will determine which brand has the best-tasting chocolate in two categories: dark chocolate + flavored chocolate.

The chocolates tested include those with full-spectrum CBD, meaning that other aspects of the hemp plant come through in the flavor. Products with CBD isolate, on the other hand, feature just CBD pulled from the plant and carry much less hemp flavor.

Stay tuned for our Instagram for some additional updates and some live footage during the blind taste test. We’ll deliver the results next Friday!
